Open land is the idealistic pleasure in the flair of the piece, being the centre portion in the location six meters away from west of Nelspruit, Mbombela Stadium – taking its name from local municipality which incorporates the city of Nelspruit and the name itself being a Swati word meaning ‘many people together in a small place’ - is currently under construction to elucidate the magnificent history in the making in the legacy of the African continent.

Being one of the ten stadiums to cater and host the 2010 Fifa World Cup due in the country, in successful deliverance of the splendor the construction contract was awarded to a South African – French consortium which commenced the construction process as of February 2007 with a completion schedule stipulated for achievement by mid 2009, a full year prior the 2010 Fifa World Cup spectacular.

The seating capacity of the stadium is allocated to be about 46 000 spectator seats which will be covered by a rectangular shape roofing to ensure better spectator view of action in the field.

Accompanying costs to the achievement of the splendor are budgeted at a maximum totaling R1.3-billion which is inclusive of all costs even those of professionals. This amount is fixed and the contracted company was employed within this fixed budget estimate there fore there are no budget and cost escalations in this regard.

In the quest to distinguish the country among international counterparts uniquely and differently, the roof design which will be covering most of the seats is set to resemble a giraffe. The precinct is near the Kruger-Mpumalanga Airport and some game parks which will allow viewers an opportunity to visit the wild life during the 2010 tournament.

Prior the Fifa 2010 World Cup, the stadium is scheduled to be a multipurpose facility where diversified sporting activities will take place including rugby and cricket while it will also be equipped with conference facilities.

Mbombela Stadium will be a new stadium constructed for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™. It will become a much welcomed addition to the football life in Nelspruit, and will leave a legacy of the beautiful game for the people of Mpumalanga. Currently, there is not a football stadium of international standards in the Mpumalanga Province.

Mbombela takes its name from the name local municipality, which incorporates the city of Nelspruit. Mbombela is siSwati and literally means 'many people together in a small space'.

The stadium will have a rounded rectangular shape which will ensure that all seats have a good view of the action on the field.

The stadium will be approximately seven kilometers from the city centre and 12 kilometers from the nearby Kruger-Mpumalanga Airport. It is also in close proximity to game parks, giving spectators the opportunity of seeing wildlife during rest days.

Upon completion, the newly built Mbombela stadium will have a gross seating capacity of 46,000. It is due for completion by October 2009.

El estadio de Mbombela, que se construirá específicamente para la Copa Mundial de la FIFA 2010, dará un importantísimo impulso a la actividad futbolística de Nelspruit, ya que en la actualidad la provincia de Mpumalanga no dispone de ningún estadio de categoría internacional.

El estadio tendrá una forma rectangular ligeramente curvada, que garantizará una buena visibilidad desde todos los asientos.

El estadio estará a aproximadamente 7 km del centro de la ciudad y a 12 km del aeropuerto Kruger-Mpumalanga. Su proximidad a los parques naturales de la zona ofrecerá a los espectadores la oportunidad de acercarse a contemplar animales salvajes durante los días de descanso.

El estadio Mbombela, que se prevé que esté finalizado en octubre de 2009, disfrutará de un aforo total de 46,000 localidades.
